Michael Thomas, CPA/ABV/CFF, is the president of Barrett & Thomas, P.C. Michael has been providing quality, personal accounting and tax services since 1989. His career in public accounting gives him the expertise to assist small-business owners with startup, growth, financial, tax and planning needs. He understands that small business owners have made tremendous sacrifices to build successful businesses; and is therefore able to cater to the needs of small-business owners.
As a forensic accountant, Michael Thomas has extensive experience in analyzing the financial, accounting, and tax aspects of marital dissolution and economic loss matters, including business valuations, separate property tracing, characterization issues, and damage calculations. Michael has testified as an expert witness in family law and civil/commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts.
Michael received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Louisiana State University - Shreveport. He additionally received his CPA license and has been Accredited in Business Valuation (AVB) and certified in financal forensics (CFF) by the AICPA. Since moving to Tyler in 1991, Michael has been very active in Rose City community life. He has served in leadership roles as president or chairman of the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Tyler/Smith County, the TISD Foundation, the East Texas Chapter of TSCPA, and First Christian Church.
